8 Tips For Writing A Good Essay On Motivation

At one point or another, students will find it difficult to get and remain motivated when it comes to completing their schoolwork. If you are tasked with writing a good essay on the topic of motivation then you might not have to reach too far to come up with helpful methods you have used to get back on track. We’re not writing this to help you get motivated, we’re writing this to help you write a good essay. Here are 8 tips to consider:

Tip 1: Gather All of Your Information

The first step is to gather all of your information from academic journals or websites citing scientifically or socially proven ways of getting motivated. You’re likely to find contradictory advice so be sure you consider both sides of an argument.

Tip 2: Brainstorm Ideas, Develop a Mind Map

Once you have all of your content you’re ready to figure out what you will be writing on. You may need to discuss both sides, in which case you will have to present each side fairly then present your own opinion as stated in your thesis and revisited in your conclusion.

Tip 3: Create an Outline and Draft Thesis Statement

No student should attempt to write an essay without first coming up with even a simple outline and draft thesis statement to help guide them through the following stages of the writing process. Get your ideas down in order and keep your outline close by.

Tip 4: Write a First Draft

With your outline in hand start writing your first draft. This should be a fairly rough draft and doesn’t require you to pore over every grammar, spelling or punctuation mistake. You’ll have the chance to make corrections later. The best method is to write as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Tip 5: Be Sure to Include Both Sides of an Argument

As stated earlier when you gather your content you need to make sure that you present both sides of an argument. The best way to do this is to discuss the opposite side first then provide your rebuttal. This point by point method will make it easy for your readers to follow along.

Tip 6: Look for Ways to Revise Your Paper

Many students don’t know what it takes to properly revise a paper. It requires that you revision the content of your work, including checking for paragraphs, sentences, and words that can be removed or rearranged. Don’t be afraid to remove entire sections if your paper is made stronger without them.

Tip 7: Proofread and Edit Thoroughly

The next stage after revising your content is to fully proofread and edit your work. Check for grammar, punctuation and spelling mistakes. Editing requires that you choose better ways of stating your ideas. Stick with simple and clear sentences.

Tip 8: Have a Friend Check Your Logic

After you have finished with your paper it would be a good idea to have someone you know read through the entire essay and offer constructive criticism. If they are confused about what you are trying to say ten you should consider making another pass. Remember that a paper that confuses your reader will likely receive a low grade.
